What is Technology?
Your technology level represents how much technology your nation has, like tools, hardware, software, machinery, and things like that. Tech provides economic benefits by increasing the Happiness and Environment of your nation. It provides military benefits by increasing your kills while attacking and defending. Tech also gives you access to some bonus resources and military units otherwise unavailable. Just like Infrastructure and Land, Technology increases in price as you buy more of it. That’s where tech deals come in.

What is a Tech Deal?
Large nations have a large need for tech. As they get more tech, it gets exceedingly expensive. Eventually, it becomes much more cost effective to pay small nations to get tech for them, using the foreign aid system. The large nations send smaller nations money and small nations send them tech, keeping whatever is leftover of the money. There are several types of deals, as explained below.

1x1 Deal (6/100 or 6/200)
One Tech Buyer and One Tech Seller
6 million for 100/200 tech
Can do 4 6M/100T every 20 days, 5 with Foreign Ministry
Can do 4 6M/200T every 30 days, 5 with Foreign Ministry

The Buyer sends the Seller 6 mil in Foreign Aid.
The Seller accepts the aid.
The Seller waits 10 days for that aid to expire.
The Seller then buys 100/200 tech.
The Seller sends 100/200 tech to the Buyer in Foreign Aid.
The Seller keeps leftover money.

2x2 Deal
Two Tech Buyers and Two Tech Sellers
6 million for 100 tech
Can do 2 2x2 every 10 days

Buyer 1 sends Seller A 6 mil in Foreign Aid
Buyer 2 sends Seller B 6 mil in Foreign Aid.
Both Seller A and B buy 100 tech each.
Seller A sends 100 tech to Buyer 2.
Seller B sends 100 tech to Buyer 1.
Both Seller A and B keep leftover money.

3x3 Deal
Three Tech Buyers and Three Tech Sellers
6 million for 100 tech
Can do 1 3x3 Every 10 days

Buyer 1 sends Seller A 6 million in Foreign Aid.
Buyer 2 sends Seller B 6 million in Foreign Aid.
Buyer 3 sends Seller C 6 million in Foreign Aid.
Seller A, B, and C all buy 100 tech each.
Seller A sends 50 tech to both Buyer 2 and 3.
Seller B sends 50 tech to both Buyer 1 and 3.
Seller C sends 50 tech to both Buyer 1 and 2.
Seller A, B, and C keep leftover money.


Proper way to buy Tech to avoid Price Jumps:

Like Infrastructure, Technology has a few large jumps in price that you want to watch out for. If you’re not careful, you could be spending too much on that 100 tech. Below is the proper way to buy tech, with the prices given no modifiers at all. (note: These numbers were tested on 7/13/2014 while buying from 0 tech. Until an update occurs, this is how much you should be paying for 100 tech.)

0->4.5 = 45,000
4.5->14.5 = 100,000
14.5->24.5 = 154,500
24.5->29.5 = 92,250
29.5->39.5 = 189,500
39.5->49.5 = 219,500
49.5->59.5 = 229,500
59.5->69.5 = 259,500
69.5->74.5 = 134,750
74.5->84.5 = 304,500
84.5->94.5 = 315,500
94.5->100 = 179,025
0->100 = 2,223,525
