The Congos In-Depth Guide to Warfare

Competence in War is a requirement for adequate contribution to this alliance. An alliance with a skilled military can effectively negate huge numerical advantages. It's a skill that starts from the bottom up, and needs to be second nature to any nation of the Congo.

The application of correct warfare is actually quite simple, although it takes much experience to fully understand and grasp the techniques.

Table of Contents

  • Military Equipment
  • Offensive Operations and DEFCON manipulation.
  • Aircraft, Nuclear weapons, and Spies
  • Coordination and Tactics

Military Equipment

In Cybernations, there are six types of military equipment.

Soldiers - The backbone of your military, soldiers are required to keep your nation out of anarchy, and to wage successful ground battles. During peacetime, you should always maintain a minimum level of soldiers. During wartime, it's best to maintain a maximum level of soldiers at all times.

Tanks - Similar to Soldiers, a single tank represents 15 soldiers on offense, and 20 soldiers on defense. A minimum of 20 tanks is required to destroy maximum infrastructure on attack.

Cruise Missiles - Cruise missiles are used to destroy infrastructure and technology for a relatively cheap price. The overall most cost effective method of warfare. Note: CM's are not very cost-effective for smaller nations.

Aircraft - The single most expensive piece of military equipment, aircraft are used to destroy enemy infrastructure, as well as defend against air attacks. Due to the exorbitant cost, Proper use of aircraft is crucial to a successful campaign.

Nuclear Weapons - Nuclear weapons are devastating pieces of military equipment, which are used to completely lock down an enemy economically.

Spies - Spies are useful for overall enhancement over every facet of your military.

Offensive Operations

Without proper offensive operations, it is impossible to win a war. What I will cover in this section, is how to properly perform offensive operations to cripple and kill your opponent.
When attacking an Opponent, always attack in this order.

  • Declare War
  • Cruise Missiles
  • Aircraft
  • Ground Attacks

Declaring War
Very simple. Find the nations that you wish to declare on, then click the "Declare War" button at the top of their page.

Cruise Missiles
Cruise Missiles are simple to use. Simply select "Cruise Missile" From the drop down menu, and fire two off.

Aircraft
Preform two escorted bombing runs, as detailed below.

Ground Attacks

There are three types of ground attacks. A successful ground attack will enable you to steal money, and technology from your opponent. As well as kill soldiers and tanks, and destroy infrastructure. There are three steps to a successfully attack. all attacks should be made in conjunction with your fire team partners.

  • Step One - Deploy.

Easy Way (Not Recommended, good if your rushing)
When attempting to attack, always deploy maximum soldiers without going into anarchy, and ALL your tanks.

This method is good if you are fighting a pile of opponents (3+); Make sure to use aggressive attacks and buy back all of your units after your attacks so they can defend your nation.

    Proper Way

First you will need to calculate your Soldier Efficiency per Soldier. This can be done by going to the "View My Nation" Page. Scrolling down to soldiers and getting the two numbers that appear.
    Code:

    20,215 (76,716)

The First number is the actual amount of Soldiers you have. The number in parenthesis is your "Soldier Efficiency" Trades, Improvements and Government all influence soldier efficiency. Now your going to want to take the number in the parenthesis and divide them by the amount of soldiers you have

    Code:
    76716/20215 = 3.79 Efficiency Per Soldier

Now you go to your enemies nation and figure out what there soldier efficiency is (As its really the only number that matters). Once you have that, divde it by your efficiency per soldier.
    Code:

    13,103 (28,019) (Enemy Stats)

28019/3.79 = 7392 << Soldiers I need to deploy to match there efficiency

You dont just want to match what they have, you want to stomp them into the ground. So your going to have to do something else...

If they have a lot of tanks use this equation...

    Code:
    7392(1.9) = Deployment Amount (Soldiers)

If they are lacking tanks you can generally get away with...

    Code:
    7392(1.75) = Deployment Amount (Soldiers)

Tanks are a bit easier; Attacking tanks are 25% weaker then Defending tanks (I have no clue why ask admin) So simply...

    Code:
(Enemy Tank #)(1.25) = Tank Deployment

Generally if you follow these simple equations; You will end up with 70-90% Battle odds. REMEMBER; If you are fighting multiple opponents do this against your toughest one. This method reduces the amount of troops you need to deploy, leaving more at home to defend your nation.

  • Step Two - Attack.
Successful attacking is actually quite simple. The object of an attack is to "Anarchy" your opponent. This means to reduce their soldiers to such a level as they plunge into anarchy. This accomplishes two things. A) reduces their income. and  Most importantly, stops them from being able to declare wars, makign it easier for us to outmaneuver an enemy alliance.

Always attack on aggressive unless otherwise stated, this is the easiest way to score a victory and cause an anarchy.

Cautious - Lowest chance of Victory, lowest casualties. Modifies victory percentage by +5%

Planned - Medium chance of Victory, medium casualties. (Most efficient in terms of causing enemy casualties) Modifies victory percentage by +10%

Aggressive - High chance of Victory, Very high casualties on BOTH sides. Modifies victory percentage by +20%

  • Step Three - Consolidation.

On the consolidation, you simply repurchase all soldiers and tanks lost in battle. Repurchased soldiers are undeployed and defend your nation. This is part of the reason you attack on aggressive, so that when you consolidate, the most possible soldiers are defending your nation.

DEFCON Manipulation.
*For this section, assume you would change your threat level in accordance with your DEFCON.

DEFCON manipulation is the art of staying protected in DEFCON 1/Severe Threat Level, while always collecting the most amount of taxes you can in DEFCON 5/Low Threat Level.

The technique to employing DEFCON manipulation with your attack routine is as follows. Remember, spend as LITTLE time in DEFCON 5 as possible.

15 minutes before day 1 update (day 0)
1) Collect taxes.
2) Change DEFCON to 1
3) Change your government to Communist
4) Buy Guerilla camps. (If you can spare the money to change them out every other day)
5) If you have targets to spy, do it here
6) Pay bills.
7) Buy max military.

Aircraft

As covered above.

The biggest thing with aircraft is the ratio of fighters to bombers. However, what a lot of people forget, is that the highest level doesn't necessarily give you the biggest advantage. Typically in an aircraft battle you will need very few bombers and thus I would only suggest getting 2 level 9 bombers. However, the other 58 machines will not all be level 9 fighters. It is important to leave a few of your "guaranteed" casualties to some level 5's. By guaranteed I mean that almost every time, whether on attack or defense you are bound to lose 1 or 2 planes, even with a huge advantage. However, if you have a few lower level fighters, these will be the ones that get destroyed rather than the expensive level 9's. That is why it is recommended to have 55 level 9 fighters and 3 level 5 fighters to assure that your casualties will not be as expensive as they could be.

Between battles always replace your aircraft to the max to ensure the best odds of infrastructure damage. Even if you only lose 1 or 2 planes (which will be your level 5 fighters) replace them so that your casualties next time won't be the level 9's. When on defense you may swap your bombers for more fighters, but still have a few level 5's as the casualty rule will still come into play.

This strategy doesn't by any means guarantee you a perfect victory every time, you are bound to run into opponents with a tech advantage where you will find that you may lose 20 or 30 fighters every battle, and this is when it may be a better idea just to replace your defenses and don't waste your money attacking. However, this strategy will definitely increase your odds in battle and save you money.

In summary:
55 level 9 fighters
3 level 5 fighters
2 level 9 bombers

If you don't have construction (allows you to have a max of 60 aircraft) just use 45 level 9 fighters instead.

If you can't get level 9's use a similar strategy but replace the level 9's with your max level available and the level 5's with aircraft a couple levels below your max.

Aircraft Requriements:
Level 1: 100 infrastructure, 30 technology
Level 2: 200 infrastructure, 65 technology
Level 3: 300 infrastructure, 105 technology
Level 4: 400 infrastructure, 150 technology
Level 5: 500 infrastructure, 200 technology
Level 6: 600 infrastructure, 255 technology
Level 7: 700 infrastructure, 315 technology
Level 8: 850 infrastructure, 405 technology
Level 9: 1000 infrastructure, 500 technology

Nuclear Weapons
Nuclear weapons are a perfect economic weapon if used correctly. Nukes can be used 24 hours after war has been declared and only one can be used against a nation per day. The damage stacks heavily off of your tech level, leading to another reason to amass tech!

Nukes are to be dropped at the first available moment and used as often as possible. They are an excellent tool for crippling a nations economy and also burning through there land, tech and infrastructure.

Acquiring a Manhattan Project early on allows you a leg up in any future war situations.

Spies
There are three uses of spies that are most effective in war time.

  • Changing DEFCON/Threat level.
This one is obvious, it makes your spying and battle efforts more successful.

  • Economic Warfare * Recommended *
Destroying Money to cripple there war chest can quickly take your opponent out of the fight.

  • Destroying Nuclear Weapons
Arguable the most useful, use these to render your nuclear opponents useless.

Coordination and Tactics

Quad Attacks
The principle of a quad attack is simple. Making your initial attacks just before update, so you can make your next days attacks directly after update, enabling you to get 4 attacks in a row at your opponent, which increases your ability to anarchy. Most attacks on an unanarchied nation will be preformed in this fashion unless otherwise stated.

Active Defense
Other alliances employ the same principles as us, often the only way to stave off anarchy in an alliance wide war is to actively rebuy troops AS you're being attacked. 90% of attacks will happen within 20 minutes of update, so if possible, be active at that time so you can defend your nation.
